A cheap Europe vacation is a challenge, but not impossible.

However, there are ways to help you stretch your vacation dollars as far as possible.

Inexpensive Vacation Ideas for Europe

• Consider traveling in April, May, early June, September, and early October.

This is between the peak-season and the off-season.

The weather is still decent, there are fewer crowds, and the tourist industry is still working hard.

You may be able to save a great deal on flights and hotels. Check the area you are traveling to find the best rates.

• Research the best hotel and airline rates on line.

• Consider taking a tour. Tours can get group discounts and these can be passed on to you.

I took a European tour that visited several countries. It was a good sampling of the various European cultures.

• Consider taking a Europe cruise vacation. Cruises are a great way to keep your costs down on a Europe trip. For example, I have been on an Eastern Mediterranean Cruise and it was great fun.

• Purchase a good Guide Book to the areas of Europe you are traveling. Look for one with book with detailed maps, things to do, insider tips, great restaurants, hotels, shopping, nightlife and more.

The few dollars you spend will be returned many times over. Whenever I travel to a new place I make sure and get one or two. Consider Frommer’s guide. There are other good guides as well.

Great Vacation spots to Visit in Europe

Paris has many fun things to do! The main attraction of Paris is Paris itself. Then there is the Eiffel tower, the Musee du Louve, Notre Dame, Musee Picasso, shopping and the list goes on!

Santorini Greece is one of the most beautiful and breath taking of the Greek Islands located in the Aegean Sea. Santorini should not be missed if the opportunity to visit presents itself. There are many beautiful shops are located at the top of this volcanically formed island paradise.

London is possible with the proper planning and resourcefulness. This page provides some ideas to get you started.

Leeds Castle-Kent England is one of the most beautiful castles in the world. Like many great castles it brings to mind visions of handsome knights in shining armor and beautiful ladies in waiting.

Barcelona has many fun things to see and do. You can see the amazing Barcelona Gaudi Architecture, Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia, Guell Park, the giant Gothic Barcelona Cathedral, and the Museum of Modern Art.

Germany has some great museums in Berlin (there are 170 to choose from!). See the important financial district in Frankfort. Visit the home of the Oktoberfest in Munich. Enjoy the maritime charms of Hamburg. Attend a music festival in Nuremberg.

Oslo Norway is an exciting city with a great deal to offer. It is one of my favorite cities to visit as it has an incredible number of fun things to do and see.
