Holland America Cruise Lines are moderately priced and a classy operation that is casual but refined.

Holland America has been around since 1873 and have a more seafaring history and tradition that any other line except Cunard.

The staff is primarily Filipino and Indonesian and they are eager to please.

Holland Cruises travel to such places as Caribbean, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia/New Zealand, Europe and more.

Holland currently caters primarily to the over fifty five crowd although families and younger people are starting to come into the mix.

The cruise line has been using intense efforts to attract a younger crowd but this process is slow.

They sunk ~ $225 million to incorporate the line’s “Signature of Excellence” program. This was to improve the dining, accommodations, activities, service and more for a better cruise experience.

Holland has proper cinemas built into all of its ships. There are only 3 of the top 10 cruise lines that have this feature. Holland has many theme-related cruises.

They also have an extensive “University at Sea” program for life enrichment.
